Love is also a four letter word. Among young people romantic love is in question. Do you, can you, should you want it with your sex? And what’s God to do with it? Here you can read Huffington Post blogger Roger Friedland’s ideas on the problem, get recent data on the contours of university students' love lives, share your own views and experiences, and hear what some of the most perceptive student observers of the college love world have to say. It seems like it should be the most basic, innocent, SIMPLE way to show affection, but it's honestly really scary. It's a symbol. It shows that you care about the person you're with, and that makes you vulnerable. I have only held hands with one person in my life, and even though we loved each other I still felt very, very fragile.

ReplyDeleteNot scary at all. I disagree with the whole holding hands thing. It's not a big deal and if you think holding hands is a bigger deal then sex...well then you are a hore.

ReplyDeleteI love holding hands. Holding hands in public is such an easy way to show you care for someone. It feels good to be connected with someone be it a family member or your friend or your significant other.

ReplyDeleteI would have to disagree that if you think holding hands in public is a bigger deal than sex you are a whore. It has to do with vulnerability. When you have sex with someone, you become vulnerable to one person, where as when you hold hands in public, you become vulnerable to every person you pass. you're revealing your love for someone publically, putting you at the mercy of your entire community, as opposed to a secluded act in the privacy of your dorm room (most the time at least)
1. holding hands doesn't imply ur in love
ReplyDelete2. holding hands with someone in public puts u off the market. but if this person is a special someone then this shouldnt matter

ReplyDeleteHow is being scared of holding hands being a whore ? ..... if you're scared of holding hands with that person and then having sex with them, then that is being a whore. You don't have the nerves to show everyone you care about that person by holding their hands in public, but you would perform special and loving act with that person someone in private is very stupid.

ReplyDeleteI love holding hands with my significant other. I love her and it shows anyone else who cares that we care about each other. I am definitely not ashamed of it in any way
Holding hands can be a problem, don't do it... unless you are fine with being with one girl.

ReplyDeleteI personally think that people are just afraid to show that they are ATTACHED to someone so then they are afraid to show it by holding hands. when most people hook up its only about that night and thats it. I've been a relationship for almost 2 years, and holding hands gives you security, and it's a very intimate and affectionate way of showing that you care.
For me, holding hands in general gives me a sense of security, whether it was done in public or private. I think the sense of security comes from the fact that the guy isn't scared to show everyone that you with him.
ReplyDeleteThen again, holding hands can be scary for many because it shows that they're off the 'market' and it might be that they don't really want to be.

I love holding hands its a powerful and lovely way to show how you and your partner feels about eachother. My first time holding hands was my senior year in Highschool. Even though he was just a friend my connection towards him was so much stronger. We held hands so that everyone would think that we went out even though we were just friends. I did it as a joke but deep down inside it felt as if I was with him as if we needed to be together. His heart was not quite emulated with mine because he didnt know much about how I felt about him. Any way holding hands sparked every nerve in my body whenever he held it...
